Cultivating a Feeling of Gratitude and Abundance

We live in a world where more, more, more, seems to be calling out to us constantly. We think, at times, if I only had this, or, if I only had that, I would be happy. The problem with this thinking is that it can sabotage our happiness and feelings of gratitude and take us away from the feelings of peace and contentment, both of which are important aspects of happiness and gratitude. The feelings of wanting more and not having enough, will rob us of enjoying the moment and being present in our lives because of the distraction of obtaining the next thing.

As we head into the holiday season, let’s reflect on all we have to be grateful for, reflecting on the simplicities of life, such as holiday music, twinkling lights, smells of freshly baked Christmas cookies, and the warmth of a fire. Gather your family and friends around and express your love and gratitude for them and the influence they have on your life.




Family Activity:

Set up a small Gratitude Christmas tree that will be designated for your ornaments of gratitude. Ask each member of your family to participate daily by writing something they are grateful for on a paper ornament and hang it on the tree.

Items Needed:

  • A tree, a live or paper tree, large enough to hold all of your ornaments of gratitude for the month of December.
  • Paper ornaments and a pen or pencil.
